The ILO’s Red Card to child labour campaign is gaining momentum, as actor and film director, Tim Roth joins forces with its artist engagement programme, ArtWorks.

His support will help raise awareness of fundamental rights at work, including freedom from child labour.

“I was stunned to learn that around the world there are more than 215 million children in child labour.”

The ILO estimates that more than 100 million girls and boys are trapped in the worst forms of child labour – they are forced into slavery; trafficked into the sex industry or exploited in the drugs trade; or else they work in dangerous mines, and in other hazardous environments. Statistic The ILO has the world’s largest programme to combat child labour, and this programme has helped free millions of children around the world. “We are thrilled that Tim Roth and other artists feel so passionately about bringing an end to child labour,” said Constance Thomas, Director of the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC). “There is so much still to be done and they can make a huge contribution to the world-wide movement,” she said.
