Chigiana – International Festival & Summer Academy 2020

Our Sounds – Music over the distance is the title of the sixth edition of the Chigiana International Festival & Summer Academy, structured in three sections containing 18 live events and 22 performances from the Academy’s archives. For the first time this year, all the contents will be available digitally.

Online from the Archive is the Festival section dedicated to both Opera Online – period recordings of 6 musical theatre staged by the Accademia Chigiana – and Legends Online, 16 symphonic music concerts held in the last three years but never released before.

ChigianaRadioArte is the Festival’s webradio, offering concerts by iconic performers, recorded in the ’80s and ’90s, as well as contemporary operas in streaming.

Beyond the silence, musica al tempo della pandemia is a special project by ChigianaRadioArte in collaboration with inner room, that engages composers and sound artists including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Gene Coleman, Patrizio Fariselli, Stefano Giannotti, Alipio Carvalho Neto, Enzo Favata and many more, on the effect of the pandemic on musical creativity.
